Fab Finds: Words of Wisdom

Fab Finds: Words of Wisdom

I’ve been on the hunt. On the hunt for words of wisdom. I’m seeking these words everywhere I look… in business journals, books, fashion and home magazines, TV shows, movies, and of course, the Bible. I thought I’d do us all a favor and write them down so we can take a look at them and see where they might apply to any parts of our lives.

“You must believe that your differences make you GREATER THAN, not lesser than.”

“Ask yourself if you’re DOING ENOUGH to improve, not if you ARE enough.”

“There are only three ways to fail: when you quit, don’t improve, or never try.”

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

- Romans 12:12 NIV

“Mentally strong people are especially strong in the face of adversity. They keep the situation in proper perspective and don’t distort the true intensity of the negative impact.”

“Don’t wait for inspiration. It comes while one is working.”

- Henri Matisse

“Well managed failure is better than poor managed success.”

- John Addison

“Celebrate Your Successes - Find some humor in your failures. Don’t take yourself so seriously. Maintain a positive tone, even when things don’t go as planned. Although a failure may not be funny at the time, there’s always a lesson to be learned. Often, the lesson learned is humility.”

- Sam Walton

“People will treat you with as much or as little respect as you allow them to.”

- Rachel Hollis

“Information is POWER, but it must be used to EMPOWER your workforce.”

- Sam Walton

“You learn more from failure… but the key is to fail early, fail cheaply and don’t make the same mistake twice.”

- Procter & Gamble

“Cultivate the rubies in the orchard. Locate the intrinsic value of your brand, work to understand it and nurture it - even when that brand is you yourself.”

- Lynda Resnick

“Love is more powerful than reason” - Tyrion Lannister

“Love is the death of duty.” - Jon Snow

“Sometimes duty is the death of love.” - Tyrion Lannister

- Game of Thrones, Series Finale

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

- Philippians 4:4-7 NIV

“Our words have power, but our actions shape our lives.”

- Rachel Hollis

“Compete, but don’t compare.” - John Addison

You may have noticed a lot of quotes regarding the theme of “failure.” They weren’t intentionally sought out, but I think it’s important to recognize those aspects in life and to grow from those types of experiences. They make us stronger and make us the people we are today.

Did one of these quotes inspire you or give you a little extra boost of pizzazz to your day?! Hope so!

XOXO,
